About me: Victoria Alaniz

Hi there,

Storytelling is my passion, which is why I have dedicated my education to journalism. In 2021, I received my master's degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with an emphasis in Radio/TV producing. Beforehand, I received my undergraduate degree from San Francisco State University where I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts. I'm now back in Southern California, where I was born and raised, after having in lived in Northern California, the Mid-West, and Tucson, Arizona.

Currently, I work as a full-time producer for KOLD News 13 in Tucson, Arizona (virtual). Previously, I worked as a director for KOMU 8 News Today, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, MO. While I was directing full-time, I was also enrolled as a full-time graduate student, and as part of my education I produced dayside or nightside shows for KOMU 8.

Having working in both the news and production department, I can appreciate all sides of a project. Not only is scripting essential, but so are the visuals. I understand that production and news go hand in hand, and one cannot live without the other and I'm happy to mend the two for flawless, captivating and sharable content for your organization.

Now that I'm back living where I grew up, I'm ready to dive right back into my community the best way I know how, through storytelling. Having moved around during my education journey, I have witnessed first hand how important community advocacy is and I believe the way I can become an advocate for my community, is through communications:  highlighting the very best the Inland Empire has to offer, the ways in which our community is coming together to reach new goals, and the ways we still wish to grow and do better. I have called a lot of places home, but the Inland Empire has always been my true North and I am ready to dedicate everything I have learned elsewhere, to help develop and cultivate a stronger, more united community.
